Who’s Who

Hi I am Rev John Yarrien the Minister of Bridge Street Methodist Church. I am married to Cora, who is a Church of England Vicar. We have a Chocolate Labrador called Rolo. I am trying to love Running, and recently ran the Mansfield 5k. I love watching all kinds of sport, especially England Rugby and Tottenham Hotspur. I am  is also a keen cook – Cora and I share a passion for food and love to experiment with flavours and ingredients.  I am deeply passionate about Bridge Street being a community focused, welcoming church. Which seeks to be relevant to Mansfield, whilst serving God in imaginative ways. I am also very passionate about Discipleship, wanting to encourage the congregations I serve to have a deep, loving, and prayerful, relationship with God, empowered by the Holy Spirit. We are seeking to be a very Family Friendly Church, welcoming to all people. So why not come and meet us, meet God, and be ready to be transformed by God’s love for you.

Hi my name is Danni Coles and I am the Family Worker here at Bridge Street Methodist Church. I am responsible for providing opportunities to spend time together, as well as supporting families with things like Toddlers, Sunday School, Messy Church. I also try and interact with the local schools and the uniformed groups that we host here at Church. I believe that we are a Church who encourages and supports all ages along our journey of faith with God and each other.

I sent a message but I still did not get a reply. It has been well over 6 months now. My query is that I am a gay christian and what I am wanting to know is would I still be welcomed at your church for morning worship. I am what I am and god made me and respects me for who I am. I am just wanting to come along to morning worship despite my sexuality.

Dear Kelvin, my apologies that there has been such a delay in responding to your message. We are in the process of getting more people trained to keep the website better up to date. The Methodist Church has a very clear, inclusive, outlook and at Bridge Street with believe strongly in the Methodist Principle that “All Are Welcome Here”. You would be very welcome to join us for worship. As the minister of this church, I believe that God made each of, and each of us is unique and blessed in the eyes of God. The Methodist church is on a journey of continuing to explore what being an inclusive church means in the 21st Century, especially around big issues like our understanding of marriage and we havent got everything right, but we are wanting to be a welcoming, open and God Centered community of faith. Come and give us a try. With Every Blessing Rev John Yarrien, Minister of Bridge Street Methodist Church.
